Stan never thought a family road trip could turn him into a real treasure hunter. But when his parents buy a used RV, launch a travel vlog, and pull him out of school for a year of "learning in real life," that's exactly what happens.

Every clear night in June, a light comes on out in the desert. It flashes three times. Nobody in town knows who is doing it, and everybody wants it to stop. The family rolled into Tonopah, Nevada for one reason, and that reason was the scariest motel in America.

Nobody was planning on a mystery. But a stranger at the Hoover Dam mentioned a light that flashes three times, and that same night, on a black hill west of town, there it was, doing exactly what the stranger said it would. Now the town's biggest festival is coming, and somebody has promised to hike up that hill and put the light out for good. One kid, one map, one dog, and about three days to figure out what that light means.
